Salut tout le monde !
Hi everybody !
The last two weeks have as usual passed so fast, with my really busy schedule and which is more and more busy with the weeks passing.
The last weekend of march was a very studious weekend for me. Do you know the TOEFL ? (The chinese level that foreigners can get by completing a test and get an internationally recognized certificate). Well, I did the same but for chinese, the TOCFL ! I was a fake test and i finally got the A2 level in chinese.(But, i didn't try to pass the B2 but i think i'm not able to get it). I was really happy to have tried this exam and figure out that in 7 months i could have a correct chinese level)
Now, i will tell you about my wonderful last weekend...
April 5th is a public holiday in Taiwan. It the day when the families clean the graves. So i went to the south with my family, in Pingtung more precisely, at the grand parents place.
We left Taipei th wednesday afternoon and went back sunday night at midnight, a big weekend !
I went with the 2 parents, the 2 maids, the 2 twins, my sister a cousin and me. There, the grand parents' house was huge, i had my own room ! We met the elder sister who is 20, cause she lives there to study, and a banch of cousins and aunts because they are all roughly neighbors and kind of self-service for all the big family, and that was really nice by the way.
One small detail : in the south they speak taiwanese a lot, so often i didn't understand what they said to each other.. But i learnt some words :p
The friday, we woke up early in the morning to go to clean the ancestors' graves. i should point out that they don't really know who is under this sandpile. Woman or Man, they don't know !
Later in the morning, we went, with my parents and my sisters, to Kaoshiung. There we went to the cemetery where there is my mother's mother. this place is impressive, i don't how many people there are inside, but it's crazy O_O. (If i understood well, there are some for men and some for women). Then, the sisters of my mother joined us to go to eat together. And later we went, to the uncle's and father's cemetery. Every time, they prayed, speak to the tumb, ... It was an interesting day and i got to know my elder sister who i had never met before.
This is the cemetary
And this is inside it. In every box, there is one people
Arbre a pain
Litchi
Canne a sucre
Goyave
They were almost 20 behind me !!
At the coffee shop
With my two host sisters
Bref encore une belle journee !
The friday (after a 12 hours night :p), it was raining cats and dogs ! So we didn't move until 3 in the afternoon, and then with my mom, a cousin and my sisters we enjoyed that it was not raining anymore to take the car and take a stroll. We should go to see ostriches. But i asked them to stop every 20 meters to take pictures of the fields and the fruits in the trees : guavas, mango, papaya, wax apple, pineapple, lychees, betel nuts,... Things i have never seen before and that my family thought it was really trivial. Finally, we succeeded going to the ostrich house, but we only stayed 5 minutes :p
We hit the road to go to the glassblowing factory where they helped me to make a glass bracelet which has a signification (which one ? .. it is still a mystery..). Upstairs, there was a little really nice coffee shop with a really good view. I spent a good time laughing with the girls there.
So that was an other nice day !
The saturday, my mom, the cousin, my sisters, my brothers and me went to the buddhist center. It's a new place in which is the TALLEST BRONZE SITTING BUDDHA IN THE WORLD. We ate in a pretty good restaurant at this place, and then we visited. That was good even if the english comments were a little bit too difficult for me.
The night, at my grand parents' house, there was a barbecue organized with the friends and the family. There was between 20 and 30 people and all the teenagers we were cooking for the elder ones :) That was realy nice, i talked to the cousins, the sisters, a really good night !
The sunday was one god's birthday day. So there were there were parades almost everywhere. At noon, we went to watch the one of the village, 100meters far from the house. And now you imagine a little white girl wide-eyed O_O like a child in the middle of the crowd of taiwanese believers. Dancers wore magnificient costumes which scared me, drums broke my ears, believers prayed at the temple in front of me, fire crackers exploded in the middle of the crowd, with a lot of smoke, and incense, ... That was AWESOME ! O_O I left this parade with stars in my eyes (... and my ears :p) and i wanted to cry :p That was like on TV ! (By the way, i will miss so much the incense odor back in France, cause here i smell it almost everyday)
Some videos about the parades
The afternoon, with my sisters and my cousin, we took a walk through the fields and the villages. We had a really good afternoon.
Well, this week end was one of the best of my life, i almost felt like if i was taiwanese, i succeed to be a real part of the family, and i love my family and i want to thank them for this amazing 4 days !
Go back to Taipei is quite difficukt after good days like this ones...
This is a medicine, it's not Nutella or poo !
